ABSTRACT: The archaeological excavations carried out during 2016 at Negrileşti – ‘Curtea Școlii’ and Cavadineşti – ‘Râpa Glodului’, Galaţi County led to the discovery of an assemblage comprising 26 pieces made of various raw osseous materials. Data from this study can be completed and modified after we will finish the analysis. The methodology of study applies standardised parameters regarding the conventions, establishing the pieces codes, approached aspects (status of conservation, raw materials, defining of the stages of the manufacturing chain and the use-wear analysis). The current examination of the surfaces with a microscope was also done.

At Negrileşti – ‘Curtea Școlii’ the majority of the artefacts comes from complexes where these were associated (Cx 3 = 7 pieces; Cx 13 = a piece; Cx 21 = 2 pieces; Cx 6 = 2 pieces). With a single exception (piece NGS/2016_21, identified as Sântana de Mureş-Černjachov culture), the artefacts are dated in the Bronze Age, Noua culture. The types included in the assemblage are: various bone awls (NGS/2016_1-11), bone end-scrapers (lissoirs) – one of them made of a fragment of a cattle or horse jaw and another - notched scapula-type (NGS/2016_12-15), bone skates (NGS/2016_16-17), canines (of pig and dog) – probably raw material used for adornments (NGS/2016_18-19), red deer antler – tine, raw material (NGS/2016_20), bone tube for needles (NGS/2016_21). At Cavadineşti – ‘Râpa Glodului’ a single digging unit has been researched, S3/2016, located north-east (NE) of the units opened during the 2013-2014 excavations. Section S3/2016 (10 m/2 m) revealed six housing complexes dating from the Bronze Age, the 4th century A.D. (Sântana de Mureş-Černjachov culture) and the 8th-10th centuries A.D. The studied assemblage comprising 5 pieces made of various raw osseous materials. With a single exception (CVD/2016_3, piece dated as Sântana de Mureş-Černjachov culture), the artefacts are dated from the Bronze Age, Noua culture. The types included in the assemblage are: bone end-scraper (lissoir), notched scapula-type (CVD/2016_1), red deer antler – tine and roe deer antler – beam base, raw materials (CVD/2016_2-3), bone decorated disk (CVD/2016_4), and pyramidal-shape bone arrowhead (CVD/2016_5).
